The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences was established in 2002 with the objective to produce well-rounded engineers, not only having good technological skills but also the ability to interact with different organs of an organization. These skills include group and co-operative working, conflict management, communication, economics, finance and project management. Additionally, the department exposes students to entrepreneurship skills, HR management, Customer Relationship Management, Total Quality Management, Business Analytics and learnings about cultural diversity. Apart from developing soft skills, the focus also is on inculcating good humane values amongst future technocrats, developing critical thinking and active learning. The departmental activities include teaching, research, organizing national and international Conferences & Workshops and Extension Activities. The department contributes to mainstream BTech programs by offering different core and elective subjects which help not only in enhancing students’ professional competence but also prepares them for future managerial and leadership positions.
The department is expanding its horizon into core management domain and has started a management program (BBA) from July 2023 which will span over three years and be divided into six semesters.
It offers core (I-V, VII Semesters) and elective (VI&VIII Semesters) courses for all B.Tech. students and it is mandatory for all students to take one course in each semester except semester VIII where open electives are offered along with the core engineering departments. The Department offers doctoral program in Management, Social Sciences and Languages.
