Department of Civil Engineering, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Himachal Pradesh, India offers Summer Training Program for the duration of 4/6 weeks in June-July 2024 in different areas of Civil Engineering to Diploma and B.Tech students.
The Department prepares students for the award of a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering. From the academic session 2022, a new B.Tech Program in Civil Engineering “B.Tech in Civil Engineering with Computer Application” has been started. The curriculum has been specially designed keeping in view emerging Civil Engineering needs of the country as well as the modern emphasis on IT enabled Civil Engineering. At P.G. Level, the department offers 2-year M.Tech programmes in Construction Management, Environmental Engineering and in Structural Engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering has signed an MOU with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for training program of UG/PG students and their research work. Students will get a field exposure and get a chance to do work with the NHAI. Besides this, Department of Civil Engineering, Jaypee University of Information Technology has collaboration with HPDDMA, Solan (H.P District Disaster Management Authority) and become the Nodal Centre for District Disaster Management. In addition, a Ph.D. degree is offered in the areas of Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Hydropower Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources.

Account details for payment of training fee, and hostel fee (if opted for hostel) would be shared on mail id of all registered participants by 25 May 2024 (Last date of Fee Payment).
Fee for the training program is to be submitted by Online Mode (RTGS/NEFT) ONLY. No other mode of payment will be accepted.
Fee payment to be confirmed by the applicant by sending receipt and details of payment for allotment of training module. Your application form would be automatically rejected on nonpayment of the Training Fee till 25 May 2024.
Module for the summer training would be allotted on First Come First Serve (FCFS) Basis, with each module having maximum 25 Seats.
A module with less than Five (5) seats would be cancelled and students would be allotted their second preference for the summer training.

Covid-19 Disclaimer:-
According to present guidelines by Himachal Pradesh Govt. the proposed Summer Training would be successfully organized on the dates mentioned. However, any Govt order due to Covid-19 scenario leading to closure of JUIT for students would impact the proposed Summer Training. In any such situation registered students would be duly informed.
Following are the training modules for the upcoming Summer Training Program - 2024:
Computations in Surveying: Measurement of horizontal distances, vertical angles and horizontal angles, measurements of elevations, spot levelling, tacheometric method, method of plane tabling, traverse calculations and adjustments, omitted measurements, curve design, working with total station: operations and field practice, triangulation survey
STADD PRO Application in Structural Engineering: Learning of STADD Pro software:- introduction of STAAD Pro Software, Analysis of different structural elements like beams columns using STADD Software. Analysis of 2D and 3D trusses. Analysis and Design of RCC Buildings, Reinforcement detailing of beams and columns, earthquake load application.
Earthquake Engineering: Review of basic structural dynamics, seismology, and earthquakes, understanding seismic networks, modeling soil response in STRATA, analysis of structural dynamics in OpenSEES (Open Software for Earthquake Engineering Systems).
Pavement Design and Evaluation, Traffic and Pedestrian Behaviour: Flexible and rigid design, application of waste material i.e. industrial, municipal, plastic and agricultural in pavement construction, soil stabilization, geopolymer concrete, green highways, sustainable construction of pavement, traffic operation on plain and hilly terrain, pedestrian behaviour on signalised and unsignalised intersection, LOS of two lane and multilane highways on hilly and plain terrain, walkability of pedestrian in hilly terrain.
Environmental Engineering: Hands on training in water and wastewater samples handling and testing techniques, air pollution control methodologies, preservation and isolation of different sampling techniques, managing materials and waste, mitigating climate change technologies with use of softwares and practices of green and sustainable development.
AutoCAD 2023:Introduction to AutoCAD, Starting with Sketching, Editing Sketched Objects, Working with Drawing Aids, Layers, Creating Text and Tables, 2D Drawing, 3D Modeling, Hatching Drawings, Rendering and Visualization.
Geo Technical Engineering: Introduction to laboratory testing and basic procedures, hands-on training for test for engineering parameters of soil, shear strength, filed testing of soil, Penetration tests, Geo 5 software modeling and Analysis
