The Department of Civil Engineering at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Himachal Pradesh, offers a Summer Training Program for Diploma and B.Tech students, with durations of 4- or 6-weeks during June–July 2025, in various domains of Civil Engineering.
The Department of Civil Engineering (CED) at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) provides a dynamic and industry-oriented learning environment for aspiring civil engineers. The department offers a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering along with M. Tech. specializations in Structural Engineering, Construction Management, and Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. program focused on advanced research., designed to impart both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical skills. The curriculum is carefully structured to integrate fundamental engineering principles with modern technological advancements, ensuring students are well-prepared to tackle real-world challenges. The department is committed to academic excellence, research, and innovation, focusing on emerging fields such as smart infrastructure, disaster-resilient construction, geotechnical investigations, and sustainable development.
CED is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories for Concrete Technology, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Highway Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering and Surveying, along with facilities for Engineering Graphics and Workshop Practices. These well-equipped labs provide students with extensive hands-on experience, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts to practical applications. The department also emphasizes software training in STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, MATLAB, Revit, MS-Project, Primavera, ETABS, ANSYS etc. enhancing students’ technical proficiency and employability. To bridge the gap between academia and industry, students undergo practical training and internships with top construction companies like Larsen & Toubro, NHAI, Jayprakash associates, Simplex, IOCL, NTPC, DMRC etc. gaining invaluable industry exposure. CED ensures that students are well-prepared for both public and private sector employment by offering internships, site visits, and collaborative industry projects. Graduates from the department have secured placements in leading private and public companies such as HPPWD, HPPCL, SJVNL, Jaypee group, JSW, SP Singla etc.

The training fee must be submitted via Online Mode (RTGS/NEFT) only. Other modes of payment will not be accepted.
The applicant must confirm the payment by sending the transaction receipt and details for module allotment. Applications without payment confirmation by 25th May 2025 will be rejected.
Training modules will be allotted on a First-Come, First-Served (FCFS) basis. Each module will have a maximum of 20 seats.
Modules with fewer than 5 participants will be cancelled, and students will be moved to their second preference. An email will be sent to notify registered candidates.

• Training Fee is non-refundable, as consumables such as kits, chemicals, and media will be pre-purchased. Ensure your availability before applying and submitting the fee.
• Hostel Fee may be refunded on request in case of genuine/unavoidable reasons leading to withdrawal.
Computations in Surveying: Measurement of horizontal distances, vertical angles and horizontal angles, measurements of elevations, spot levelling, tacheometric method, method of plane tabling, traverse calculations and adjustments, omitted measurements, curve design, working with total station: operations and field practice, triangulation survey
Pavement Design and Evaluation, Traffic and Pedestrian Behaviour: Flexible and rigid design, application of waste material i.e. industrial, municipal, plastic and agricultural in pavement construction, soil stabilization, geopolymer concrete, green highways, sustainable construction of pavement, traffic operation on plain and hilly terrain, pedestrian behaviour on signalised and un-signalised intersection, LOS of two lane and multilane highways on hilly and plain terrain, walkability of pedestrian in hilly terrain.
STAAD PRO Application in Structural Engineering:Learning of STAAD Pro software:- introduction of STAAD Pro Software, Analysis of different structural elements like beams columns using STADD Software. Analysis of 2D and 3D trusses. Analysis and Design of RCC Buildings, Reinforcement detailing of beams and columns, earthquake load application systems.
Geotechnical Engineering and Ground Improvement:This six-week course covers foundation engineering fundamentals, including types of foundations, bearing capacity calculation, and design. It explores geotechnical testing (SPT, CPT, Plate Load), ground improvement techniques, soil stabilization, and laboratory testing. The course concludes with Geo-5 software training for modelling slopes, analysing stability, and simulating soil nailing and retaining walls, blending theory with practical applications.
AutoCAD Essentials: From Basic to advance:Introduction to AutoCAD, Starting with Sketching, Editing Sketched Objects, Working with Drawing Aids, Layers, Creating Text and Tables, 2D Drawing, 3D Modelling, Hatching Drawings, Rendering and Visualization.
