Sh. Manoj Gaur, Executive Chairman of Jaiprakash Associates Limited, the flagship company of Jaypee Group is a distinguished alumnus from BITS Pilani. After completing his B.E (Hons.) degree in Civil Engineering, he joined the company during the construction of Jaiprakash Associates Ltd.'s first Cement Plant - 1 MTPA at Rewa (Madhya Pradesh). He has closely been associated with the cement business of the company and has the distinction of participating in various capacities over the years and leading this line of business as it grew from 1.0 million tonne per annum (MnTPA ) in 1986 to 41.4 MnTPA in 2012. Sh. Gaur has been associated with setting up of Group’s hydropower assets since 2000. He ensured that Jaypee Group emerges as a leader in the construction of multi-purpose river valley and hydropower projects by participating on EPC/CONTRACT/BOO BASIS to add 12,030MW to the Nation since 2002. The Jaypee Group, a pioneer in creation of hydropower plants in the private sector has to its credit some of the engineering marvels to its credit in India and Bhutan.

Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma is an accomplished academic leader, researcher, and institution builder with over three decades of distinguished experience in higher education. He has been serving as the Vice Chancellor of Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat since August 2021, where he is leading academic strengthening, research enhancement, and overall institutional growth through a transparent, student-centric and innovation-driven approach.
An alumnus of the Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School and a PhD in Mathematics from IIT Roorkee, Prof. Sharma previously held key leadership roles at the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), Patiala. His contributions there include serving as Dean of Faculty Affairs, Dean of Academic Affairs, Head of Computer Science & Engineering, Head of the School of Mathematics & Computer Applications, and Head of the Computer Centre. Across these roles, he has played a pivotal part in academic governance, curriculum modernization, faculty development, and digital transformation initiatives.
A Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. Sharma is widely known for his research in machine learning, pattern recognition, Indian language technologies, neural networks, speech processing, and statistical modeling. Born in Saharanpur UP, Prof. Ashok Gupta obtained the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering with honours and M.E. in Civil Engineering with Specialization in Geotechnical Engineering both from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee). His Ph.D. is in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi.
During his final year of Master’s programme, he joined the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) Roorkee and worked at NIH for two years. Later, he joined as a regular faculty in Civil Engineering at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, where he served for 23 years. During his tenure in NIT Hamirpur, he also held the office of Controller of Examination (CoE). Professor Ashok Kumar Gupta joined Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan, HP in 2007. He served as Professor and Head of Department of Civil Engineering before moving to current designation. His teaching experience spans over 38 years.
He has received both the Best Teacher Award and the Best Faculty Mentor Award. He is the author of 135 journal papers, 5 edited books/conference proceedings, 15 book chapters, and more than 50 full conference papers and has guided 15 PhDs, more than 50 M.Tech. dissertations and more than 160 B.Tech. major projects in area of Civil Engineering. He was honored to be listed in the top two percent of scientists worldwide by Stanford, with over five hundred fifty citations per year during the last three consecutive years. He has more than 250 consultancy and research projects to his credit. He implemented DSC concept for rockfill materials modelling during his research work which is largely cited by other researchers. During recent time, his research areas of interest have been testing and modelling of geotechnical materials, finite element modelling and its applications to geotechnical engineering, environmental geotechnology focussing on Solid Waste Management (SWM) and slope stabilization using helical nails. He is Founder Chairman of Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) Shimla Chapter. He is also the founder Patron of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) student chapter at JUIT. He is recipient of IGS-Shri R N Prasad Biennial Prize for the best paper on “Slope Stability and Land Slides twice (2019 & 2021)” and ASCE outstanding Reviewer award for Journal of Geomechanics for three consecutive years. He has five published patents from the government of India on soil nailing, landslide monitoring, and pavement indexing. Brigadier RK Sharma, Sena Medal (Retd.) was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army in 1988. Distinguished alumnus of Sainik School Kapurthala, Punjab, he did his BE(Hons) degree in Civil Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology Patiala, M Tech (Transportation Systems) from IIT Kanpur, MSc (Defence and Strategic Studies) from Madras University and Staff College from DSSC Wellington. In his illustrious career spanning over 36 years, he has held many prestigious academic appointments including Commander of Faculty of Civil Engineering at College of Military Engineering Pune, Directing Staff at the Army War College Mhow in Senior & Junior Command Wings and Instructor at Bombay Engineering Group & Centre Pune. The Officer has the unique & singular honour of raising and commanding a new outfit of the Indian Army - the Vijay Ashish Engineer Regiment (Bombay Sappers). He has served in Srilanka during operation PAWAN and in Bhutan under Project Dantak of the Border Roads Organisation. Presently, he is working as Professor in the field of Electromagnetics at Department of Physics & Materials Science, Jaypee University of Information Technology. He has got more than 28 years of Research and Administrative experience. Since April 2025 he is Dean (Accreditation) of the university. Prof. Kumar, a CSIR Fellow, completed his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala. He joined Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Solan, Himachal Pradesh, in 2003, where he has served in various capacities, including seven-year tenure as Professor and Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. With over 25 years of experience in research and teaching, Prof. Kumar has made significant contributions to the fields of biotechnology and sustainable technology.
His research interests include biometallurgy, biofuels, and bioremediation. He has led and collaborated on numerous externally funded projects supported by agencies such as the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC), Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE), and industry partners.
