The SGRC's primary purpose is to provide a transparent, fair, and timely mechanism for students to raise and resolve academic, administrative, and infrastructural issues through a structured process, involving an Ombudsman for appeals and adherence to principles of natural justice.

Purpose of the SGRC:

  • To create a positive academic environment:
  • The SGRC helps foster a healthy and positive atmosphere by addressing student concerns in a structured and time-bound manner.
  • To ensure student satisfaction:
  • By resolving grievances, the committee helps maintain student satisfaction with the institutional facilities and academic processes.

Structure and Composition:

  • The SGRC typically includes a senior professor as the chairperson, along with several other senior faculty members.
  • There must be inclusivity, with a woman member/chairperson and at least one member from SC, ST, or OBC categories.
  • A student representative, chosen for academic merit, sports achievements, or co-curricular excellence, also serves on the committee.

Key Functions and Processes:

  • Complaint Redressal: Students can submit their grievances regarding academics, facilities, or administration.
  • Confidentiality: The committee handles all matters in a strictly confidential manner.
  • Timely Resolution:  The SGRC is expected to acknowledge and address grievances within specified timeframes, such as 15-30 working days.
  • Principles of Natural Justice: The committee follows principles of natural justice, giving both the student and the accused an opportunity to present their case.
  • Recommendations: After investigation, the SGRC provides recommendations to the institution and the aggrieved student.
  • Appeal to Ombudsman: Students can appeal to an Ombudsperson if they are dissatisfied with the SGRC's decision.

Implementation:

  • Online Portal:  Institutions are encouraged to operate through an online portal to facilitate the registration and tracking of grievances.
  • Collaboration: Institutions must cooperate with the SGRC and the Ombudsperson to ensure the speedy resolution of issues.

The Student Grievance Redressal Cell (SGRC) of Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, has been constituted with the objective of creating a responsive, transparent, and student-centric environment within the University. The primary purpose of the Cell is to provide a formal mechanism for students to register their grievances and seek redressal in matters related to academic processes, examination issues, evaluation, administrative support, facilities, or any other concern that may hinder their academic journey or personal well-being on campus. The SGRC ensures that students’ complaints are heard in a fair and unbiased manner and that solutions are provided promptly, thereby protecting their rights and interests as stakeholders of the institution. It encourages students to express their concerns freely without fear of victimization and guarantees confidentiality and sensitivity in handling cases. By offering an effective forum for dialogue and resolution, the Cell not only minimizes potential conflicts but also builds trust between students and the administration. Ultimately, the SGRC plays a vital role in enhancing the overall learning environment, promoting harmony, safeguarding student welfare, and upholding the values of justice, equality, and accountability that form the foundation of the University’s academic and administrative functioning.

A periodic email from the Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) is sent to support the students in addressing any academic or non-academic concerns they may face during your time at the university.

Students are encouraged to make use of the SGRC portal to register their grievances in a timely and constructive manner whether it relates to infrastructure, facilities, or any other genuine concern—your voice is important, and we are here to listen.
