Mr. Manoj Gaur, Executive Chairman of Jaiprakash Associates Limited, the flagship company of Jaypee Group is a distinguished alumnus from BITS Pilani. After completing his B.E (Hons.) degree in Civil Engineering, he joined the company during the construction of Jaiprakash Associates Ltd.'s first Cement Plant - 1 MTPA at Rewa (Madhya Pradesh). He has closely been associated with the cement business of the company and has the distinction of participating in various capacities over the years and leading this line of business as it grew from 1.0 million tonne per annum (MnTPA ) in 1986 to 41.4 MnTPA in 2012. Mr. Gaur has been associated with setting up of Group’s hydropower assets since 2000. He ensured that Jaypee Group emerges as a leader in the construction of multi-purpose river valley and hydropower projects by participating on EPC/CONTRACT/BOO BASIS to add 12,030MW to the Nation since 2002. The Jaypee Group, a pioneer in creation of hydropower plants in the private sector has to its credit some of the engineering marvels to its credit in India and Bhutan.
Mr. Gaur has expanded the activities of the Jaypee Group viz. Engineering & Construction, Power, Cement , Real Estate, Expressways, Hospitality, Health Care and Education ( not- for- profit). Coming from a humble background and following footsteps of his illustrious father Sh. Jaiprakash Gaur Ji, he has shown immaculate appetite to imbibe the humane aspects of Founder of the Group and is leading the JAYPEE Group from December, 2006 . It is under Mr. Manoj Gaur’s leadership that the Group made strides in various fields and executed path-breaking projects such as the ambitious 165 Km long concrete Noida to Agra ,Yamuna Expressway, 1000 MW Karcham –Wangtoo Hydroelectric project, Baglihar project and F1 Indian Grand Prix.
He carries on the philanthropic work undertaken by the Group’s ‘Not-for-Profit - JAIPRAKASH SEWA SANSTHAN’ with as much fervor and passion that he has when he works on his business strategies. In addition to the above, not only does he play a leading role in the business of the Group but has been instrumental in planning and execution of the social responsibility initiatives in the area of education and rural development programs for villages surrounding Group’s various project sites. It was his efforts that “Sardar Patel UchchatarMadhyamikVidyalaya”, Rewa, M.P., which has been dedicated to provide quality education to the children of economically deprived sections of the society, was established.
Dr. Vinod Kumar was Deputy Director and Professor of Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee. He received his B.Tech degree from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and M.Tech. & Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee (erstwhile University of Roorkee). He has many academic awards, distinctions and scholarships to his credit including the Khosla Research Awards of University of Roorkee, Ist IETE-R S Khandpur Medical Instrumentation Gold Medal in recognition of life time achievements and outstanding contribution in the field of Biomedical Instrumentation 2006, Railways Board Award for the best paper by IE(I) 2006, KS Krishna Memorial Award of IETE, The Brij Mohanlal Award of IE (I), The Corps of Engineers Prize of IR(I), best paper certificates of Awards of IE (I) etc. He has been recognized as excellent performer for many years in IIT Roorkee.
He is the best teacher awardee of IIT Roorkee. Prof. Vinod Kumar has about 180 research papers to his credit in the area of Medical Instrumentation and Signal Processing. He has guided 28 PhD.s, more than 150 M.Tech dissertations and more than 150 B.Tech. Projects in the area of medical instrumentation and digital signal & image processing.
He held many positions in IIT Roorkee administration i.e., Dean Faculty Affairs; Heads of Electrical Engineering Department, Continuing Education Centre, Quality Improvement Program Centre, Information Super Highway Centre and Audio Visual Centre. He was also Associate Dean Academic, Chairperson of many Committees and member of several academic committees of other educational institutions of higher learning and councils. He was National Coordinator QIP.
He has widely travelled in India and abroad namely USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, Thailand, Finland, Switzerland etc for invited key notes, research collaborations & discussions.
He has taken more that 90 assignments as consultant in diverse fields which includes development of instruments, signal processing packages, residual life assessment of power plants and e-governance.
He has 41 years of rich experience of teaching & research and technical education management . He is a life fellow of IETE and IE (I) , member IEI UK and is a senior member of IEEE USA. His areas of interest are Medical Instrumentation, Digital Signal Processing, Telemedicine and e-Governance.
Major General Rakesh Bassi, SM (Retd) is a B Tech (Civil) from the College Of Military Engineering, Pune. His Masters include a M Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University, Master of Management Studies from Osmania University, M Sc (Defence Studies) from University of Madras. The General Officer was commissioned in the Indian Army Engineers through NDA in 1978 and has held many prestigious appointments in different ranks during his 38 years service. Some of these include Director General Combat Engineers at Army Headquarters, Secretary National Defence College, India, Chief Engineer of a Corps on the Line of Control in J&K. He retired in May 2016 as Chief Engineer Western Command. Major General R Bassi is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College, College of Defence Management and the Defence Services Staff College. He was the Contingent Leader of the Indian Observers to UN Mission in Iraq – Kuwait immediately post the Gulf War in 1991. He was also a Member Secretary of an Inter Ministerial Committee formed by the Govt of India on Optimal Utilisation of Waters of Rivers under the Indus Water Treaty.
An adventurist of international repute, the General was a crew member of the First Indian Adventure Sailing Expedition Around The World (1985 – 87) on a 37 foot sail boat. He later skippered an Adventure Sailing Expedition in 1996-97 to countries of Middle East and Indian Ocean Region.
Major General R Bassi is a recipient of Sena Medal (Gallantry), Chief of The Army Staff Commendation and Army Commander Commendation for his professional achievements. He is a recipient of Ocean Cruising Medal from Ocean Cruising Club UK, Indian Colours in Yatching and CME Colours in Cross Country and Basketball.
Prof. Samir Dev Gupta obtained his B.E. (Electronics) from Bangalore University (University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore), M.Tech (Electrical Engineering) from I.I.T. Madras, M.Sc. (Defence Studies) from Madras University, and Ph.D. from J.I.I.T. Noida He has over three and a half decades of work experience in the areas of avionics, communication, radar systems and teaching at UG & PG level.
His teaching career spans over 22 years and 6 months includes in addition to teaching at JIIT, Noida since December 2002, teaching at Institute of Armament Technology under Pune University, now Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (Deemed University) for PG programmes and training & development needs of Indian Air Force (I.A.F.) and Defence Research & Development Organization (D.R.D.O.), Air Force Technical College (A.F.T.C.), Bangalore where graduate engineers from IIT’s, NIT’s and Indian & foreign Universities undergo Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) course for about 18 months prior joining Technical Officers’ branch of the I.A.F. and Advanced Stage Trade Training Wing at Guided Weapon Training Institute, Baroda He was also a recognized postgraduate teacher in microwave communication at Pune University. His research interest is in the area of conformal microstrip patch antenna for aircraft systems. His publications in referred journals and conferences are well cited.
His previous assignments includes, Deputy Director at Air Headquarters and were involved in planning, coordinating and directing maintenance, modification of aircraft and helicopter systems, modifications and induction of advance electronic systems into I.A.F., Commanding Officer of an 8 GHz LOS microwave communication unit, Senior Engineer looking after maintenance of airfield navigation aids, techno-logistic management of ground based communication equipment as Aeronautical Engineering (Electronics) Branch officer of the I.A.F., Chairman Communication Advisory Committee at I.A.T. Pune. He is qualified for first & second line servicing of Mirage-2000 aircraft. Work experience on Mirage Mission Simulator and fly by wire systems of Mirage-2000 aircraft. Led and supervised highly qualified and skilled engineering officers and technicians of I.A.F. in maintenance and operation of missile, radar and communication systems. Experienced in management of resources to achieve time bound targets and objectives viz. successfully implemented contract with international and national agencies for induction of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Portable Laser Designating Systems and up gradation of aircraft simulators for the I.A.F. Prior to joining JUIT Waknaghat, he was a Professor in the department of ECE at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida. He also initiated training and placement process for JIIT, Noida. Successfully placed first and second batch students of Jaypee Education System in top-notch national and multinational organizations through campus recruitment. He has been associated at JIIT, Noida in students’ welfare and discipline as Associate Dean of Students and Chairman Proctorial Board respectively. He has successfully organized two editions of International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication (ICSC 2013 & ICSC 2015) at JIIT, Noida.
During his professional career he has under gone number of professional courses, some of them notably are course on solid state devices at I.I.T.
