Research Interests

Mobile and Wireless Communication
My research is based on 3G network in mobile and wireless communication.
The calls are handled by assigning OVSF codes to the calls using a spread factor of 8. This gives us a 8 layer code tree. The calls requiring less data rate are assigned codes belonging to the lowest layer. When a call is assigned a code, it blocks all its parents (codes up to the topmost layer) and all its children (codes originating from this rate till the lowest layer). When a code gets blocked, it can not be assigned to a new call. Thus an effective allocation scheme is required to ensure that maximum number of calls can be handled by the network.
Our program is concerned with reducing call blocking and enhancing network efficiency by devising new assignment schemes for the OVSF codes. We use code written in Matlab 8 to compare and analyze different schemes based on processes such as call allocation, call blocking and call relocation.
